

Milisse Margaret Wells passed away at her daughter’s home at Lake Don Pedro, CA. She was 92. Milisse was born in Ava, Missouri to John and Rhoda Hammons, the fifth child of 7 children. She lived in Riverbank, CA for a number of years, where she and her husband raised their 5 children. Milisse was very active as a volunteer in the school system. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, worked on the voting board, was on the Girl Scout Regional Board, worked at the locker plant and Contadina cannery. When her husband retired, they joined the Walley Byam Caravan International Air Streamers, and they had a great time traveling for 15 years all over the USA and Canada. After her husband passed away in 1992, she moved to Modesto on Oakdale Road and then to Ralston Towers where she lived for 10 years. One of the great joys in her later years was playing cards with her many friends and family. Milisse was known for her kindness, warm heart, loyalty and being determined and hard working. She was loved and respected by many people and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Milisse is preceded in death by her loving husband Clarence Walter Wells and 2 grandsons, Allen Smallwood and Richard Gondolfi. She leaves behind 5 children; Arthur Carl Smallwood of Riverbank, CA, Jimmy Edward Smallwood of Modesto, CA, Gail Marie Gondolfi of Lake Don Pedro, CA, Billy Allen Smallwood of Oakhurst, CA and Stella Margaret Sauls of Twain Harte, CA. She had 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park and Funeral Home 900 Santa Fe Avenue in Hughson. Visitation is Wednesday, November 12th from 4 – 8 PM. A Graveside Service will be on Thursday, November 13th at 10AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Breast Cancer Society in her honor.
