Ruth Marion Bushman Rennie

Ruth was an active member of Saint Jude’s Catholic Church, the Ceres Woman’s Club and the Cere’s Seniors Club for many years. She received multiple awards and resolutions for her efforts on behalf of these clubs, including resolutions from John Vasconcellos, California State Senator and from Barbara Boxer, United States Senate and a letter from George W. Bush. She was named outstanding senior of the year in 2002. Her volunteer efforts on behalf of the Cere’s Woman’s club, St. Jude and the Ceres Senior, included a variety of fundraisers to help those less fortunate during her tenure of over twenty years. She had an exceptional spirit and devotion to making a difference in her community, her state and her country.

Ruth was predeceased by her first husband, Allen Geranen and second husband of 38 years, Colin E. Rennie as well as her first born grandson, Clayton Geranen, her parents, Guy and Marion Bushman of Pierre S. Dakota, and four of her siblings, Genevieve Waggoner, Marjorie Hladky, Robert Bushman and Donald Bushman. One brother is still living, Howard Bushman. Ruth had four sons, Allan, Jon, Curtis Geranen and Colin “David” Rennie and one daughter, Susan Geranen. Seven grandchildren: Clayton, Brian, MaryAnn, Crysta, Stacy, Jason, and Matthew. Seven great-grandchildren: Holly, Greg, Anna, Daniel, Evan, Amber and Ethan.

Ruth was a homemaker extraordinaire and she loved her family and always made family events a special adventure with great food and the wonderful ambiance of a beautifully set table. We love you, Mom, and will miss you until we meet again.

The funeral service will be on Friday, June 15, 2012, at 1 p.m. at St. Jude’s Church on Mitchell Road in Ceres, CA followed by a short memorial back at Lakewood Memorial Park at graveside. There will be a viewing at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Road in Hughson CA 95326, (209) 883-4465, from 11 a.m. to noon. The viewing and services are open to friends and family.

Donations may be made to the Federated Ceres Woman’s Club to help those less fortunate.
