He was a resident of Modesto for most of his life and was raised helping with the family business, Crescent Supply.
Tommy loved to travel or just GO, that is why his business as a Heavy Equipment Pilot Car driver was perfect for him for the last 30 years.
He was a member of the California Pilot Car Association until it dissolved.
In all our travels no matter where we went Tommy would know someone there or he would for sure know them when we left. He never met a stranger. He never got lost, and he knew all the back roads of California and Nevada he was an avid reader of all the old books on these areas and knew his way around like he had lived there before. He had a memory that was beyond reality, he could remember where the holes in the road were, where we saw a broken down house off the road, it was definitely amazing. He always had a story to tell and some of them were hard to believe , but eventually you would run in to someone who confirmed it.
Tommy was so proud of his American Motorcycle Association member number 7734. He was a legend in motorcycling, which included being a nationally ranked pro number with prestigious wins at such places as Daytona, Florida where he had the land speed record at one time He managed several motorcycle shops, as well as his own shops, where he was a mentor to the best of the best, including a young King Kenny Roberts who loved to race Tom’s bikes!
He still has more motorcycles than can be counted. At the time of his passing he was restoring a bike for someone.
Tommy was also a member of the CJMC, VJMC Motorcycle clubs and Antique Automobile Club of America.
He loved watching NASCAR racing, some in person at Sears Point Raceway, thanks to Save Mart, yes it was a while ago.
His grandchildren thought he could fix any car problem they had and always called him to help them fix something from up to 2,000+ miles away. I don’t think he ever disappointed them.
Tommy leaves behind his wife Diana Clark of 22 years, but it took us 10 years to be sure it would work, and it did.
Two daughters (thanks to Diana): Shelli Coon and Kristi Bates, both of Missouri.
Three Grandchildren: Sara Coon of California, Chance Bates of Missouri and Leann Weissbeck of New Hampshire.
Tommy did not want a big funeral with all the expenses and because of COVID 19 there will not be a service held for him. Visitors are welcome at our home.
