Born on August 12th, 1949, in Hamilton, Ontario, Chris had a heart of gold and was always ready to lend a hand. He was an avid sailor and skier. His most cherished memories of sailing were in Antigua and at the Gatineau River Yacht Club. His skiing years were spent primarily in Cedar Springs, Ontario, and at Vorlage, Wakefield.
After surviving an almost fatal car accident and brain injury in 1972, Chris’s tenacious fight to overcome his disabilities led him to graduate from the University of Guelph with an Honours B.A. He earned a fellowship for his work in transportation from The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation. I am deeply grateful to Chris’s dear friends, medical team, social workers, curator, staff at Le Résidence Manoir and Maison des Collines, and members of the Good Shepherd Parish in Wakefield for their unconditional love and support.
Thank you, Chris, for the treasured memories and many laughs. We trust that you are sailing free and resting in peace. Chris is survived by his sister, Alix Susan Bishop (née Holloway), of Vancouver, BC.
A memorial will be held at Good Shepherd Parish, 693 Riverside Dr., Wakefield, on April 26th, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
Contributions to Maison des Collines, Wakefield, in Chris’s honor would be greatly appreciated.
