A minha querida mãe. A minha boneca. I can still hear dad say “oh meu amor!”. The house is empty without you both. It doesn’t matter where I lived, the place where I felt safest was with you and dad,  at home. My heart is broken. I miss you so much. I will always think of you when I sing “Que sera, sera”, by Doris Day. I LOVE YOU MAMMA.

My deepest condolences to you all, Natalia, Clotilde , Frank and Nelly, on the passing of your sweet mom😥  She was a great aunt to me and I have great memories of her every time she would come to the states. I will always love her, may she rest in peace.

We are deeply sorry for your loss. We never had the privilege of knowing Clotilde personally , but we do know her daughter Clotilde and her granddaughter Careena and their families.  They are loyal friends- hospitable and generous. They appreciate and enjoy  the simple things in life and would drop everything to help a friend in need. No doubt some of these qualities were nurtured by the incredible woman who loved and shaped them. Clotilde must have been an extraordinary woman and her legacy lives on beautifully through her family. We are thankful to her for bringing such beautiful friends into our lives.

I will always cherish the memories I made with you. Even though I didn’t get to see you very often, but every time I did, I felt so happy, like I was stepping into a safe and warm space. The times I spent with you, whether visiting or just being near you, are moments I will hold close forever.

Even though I didn’t know you as closely as the others in our family, you still meant so much to me. You were the best great-grandmother I could ever ask for, and I’m grateful for every visit, every laugh, and every little moment we shared together. Those memories remind me how special you truly were.

I will miss you dearly. I will love you always. You will always have a special place in my heart, and I’ll carry the memories of you and me for the rest of my life.

I will always remember my aunt as a kind and loving person, the times we spent at her house for birthdays and Christmas, with all of us kids running around will always be cherished for the love she gave us , plus she made the best Bacalhau com natas ever. Rest in Peace 🕊️

Avó, it’s hard to put into words just how deeply you shaped the person I am today. You taught me that love is something you show through small, thoughtful acts - warm meals, gentle guidance, a soft touch on the shoulder followed by a simple “are you hungry?”, and the comfort of knowing someone is always in your corner. Your presence was steady, reassuring, and full of a quiet strength that I carry with me every day.

My favourite memories are the sleepovers at your house, when you would make us chazinho and sit with me at the kitchen table, sharing stories from back home in Portugal. I didn’t realize it then, but those stories were gifts - pieces of our history, our culture, and your heart. I can still hear your voice, soft and warm, weaving together moments from your childhood and the world you came from. And I’ll never forget your laugh - your full, contagious, beautiful laugh that filled the room and made everyone else laugh with you. It’s a sound I’ll carry with me forever.

I also think of the countless times we went to your house to have our pants hemmed or holes sewn closed in our clothes. You’d sit at your famous blue sewing machine, stitching everything back together as if it were the easiest thing in the world. You fixed our clothes the same way you fixed so many moments in our lives - with patience, attention, and love.

Your home was unlike any other place. The moment I walked through the door, I felt wrapped in comfort. It was always filled with the smell of good cooking - soups simmering, and meals made with love and patience. But more than food, it was the feeling of belonging that made your home so special. You created a space where everyone felt welcomed, cared for, and safe.

I miss you deeply. But I will also carry you with me in the way I show love, the way I care for others, and in the memories that bring me comfort. Thank you for everything you gave me: your time, your stories, your warmth, and your love.

Paul, Heather and I offer our sincere condolences for your loss.  When I was becoming a new member of the Coutinho family Paul and I by chance  met Clotilde and  Faustino  in the food court at St.Laurent shopping centre.  Paul's aunt couldn't have been nicer and very welcoming. I could tell she had a heart of gold.

Mom:  Where do i begin?
I was truly blessed being your daughter.
I remember the Saturdays with the record player, playing music and we would be dancing up a storm in the living room. You loved to dance.  You taught Dad how to dance..
I remember Dad loving to take us all out on Sunday afternoons for a car ride to see different places. 
I remember our daily phone calls.  We could talk about anything.
You were the best vava for my 4 sons, and they loved you lots, and they enjoyed going over for their weekly visits and there would always be chazinho and yes the "S" cookies that so many of your grandchildren loved.
The best family gatherings were at your place.
You loved to laugh.. You loved to cook. You loved us all unconditionally..
You always welcomed anyone coming over to the house.
I first mourned your loss quite a long time ago, when there were no more daily phone calls, and the worst was when you didn't know who i was anymore. 
But, i always knew who you were... You were my mom.
In my heart i believe Dad was waiting for you in heaven and you are having the time of your life back together again.  
 Rest in eternal peace with dad.  Till we meet again.

My grandmother was the best! She was the glue that kept us together. One of the strongest woman I ever met! They don't make them like they use to. Loyal to a fault. She kept my secrets. She had my back. She would do anything for me if I asked. I would do anything for her. So many memories I will never forget. I will never forget you. I have great memories with vava that will always be in my heart and will never be forgotten. As a child growing up going to avo and avas house was like a second home. We would never go without something. Family gatherings were the best growing up. Entering the house smelling all the yummy food she'd be cooking for the holidays, or late visits with tea and milk with those S cookies. She could make us toast and have cheese and im telling you nothing beat it, didnt matter if you'd by the same bread and butter, it would never taste the same as at Avas house. She had a magical touch with everything and anything. A strong woman, kind, sweet, loving and caring. I remember the days we would cut the grass at the house and she'd call avo at the portuguese center not to forget to pull out money to pay us before he comes home. I could go on and on about the special woman she was. Words arent enough to express everything she did for the family. I will never forget about you and will love you forever Ava. Look over us.

I have some of the best memories growing up with Vovó - Spending summers playing in the backyard, helping her hang the laundry on the line. Playing cards, having tea and those little S  cookies. And I can almost taste the steaming plate of papas with sugar sprinkled on top - along with her amazing Portuguese dishes at our big family gatherings. I love you and miss you Vovó,
