Dawn O’Leary Quesnel 92, of Aylmer Quebec, passed away on February 12 2026 after a hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a cherished mother, grandmother (Nananoo, Nanoo) and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed.
Dawn was born in Aylmer Quebec on June 18, 1933, to Cornelius O’Leary and Eva Quintal. She dedicated her life to her family and took great joy in being around children. She had a second career after raising her family, working in schools and daycares. She had a passion for walking and staying active and was known to enjoy listening to music (Elvis!), dancing and karaoke well into her later years. She was a strong woman who had already fought and won a battle with cancer. She had a sparkle in her eye that exuded her Irish spirit and a bold sense of humour. She was loving and kind to all who knew her.
Dawn is survived by her children, Danny (Cathie), Cindy, Shawn (Ludy), Stacey (Dave) and Kevin (Heather), and her beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Jaime (Seamus), Brandon and Nathan and honorary grandchild Stefanie. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Lucien Quesnel as well as her brothers and sisters whom she lost too soon and missed dearly, Rhena, Lorraine, Richard “Sonny”, Joan and Terry.
As per Dawn’s request there will be no service. Please feel free to have a special treat or drink in her honour or listen to your favourite songs. Slainte!
Special thanks to the staff at Residence Maison Bruyere for their amazing care these past few years and La Renaissance Aylmer for making sure she was well looked after in her final days. The family thanks you all for your support and asks that you share this memorial with anyone who was touched by Dawn’s life. We have found comfort in knowing that she is back home with dad as well as all her other family members and friends.
