Armando Arcides Meneses

Armando Meneses, 59, a long time resident of Stafford, Texas died peacefully at his home on March 30, 2011 surrounded by his loved ones. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Humble on Monday, April 4, 2011. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m. followed by a graveside ceremony.

Armando was born in Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela on September 15, 1951. He was preceded in death by his brothers Valentine Meneses, Reinaldo Sifontes, and Lino Sifontes. He leaves behind his wife, Lynn Jeffery Meneses, Mother, Doñ a Edilia Sifontes, Father Don Esteban Meneses, of Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela, Brothers Juvenile Freites of Barinas, Venezuela, Luis Meneses, Ramon Meneses, and Peter Meneses, of Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela, Daniel Meneses of Puerto Ayocucho, Venezuela and sister Iris Trinidad Meneses, of Barcelona, Spain. Armando also leaves behind numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Armando worked with Chicago Bridge and Iron in Venezuela as a welding supervisor. One of the largest projects he worked on there was the Guri dam in Bolivar State. This dam alone supplies the majority of Venezuela's electricity. After marrying and moving to the United States, Armando continued to work as a welder, with Chicago Bridge and Iron at its Fairbanks North Houston location.

Armando was a member of the Baha’i Faith for over forty years. He traveled throughout Venezuela and Colombia teaching the Baha’i Faith. He most recently was a member of the Missouri City Baha’i Community. His conviction to the Baha’i Faith helped him fight a three year, courageous battle with stomach cancer.

The family would like to offer their sincere thanks for all of the prayers and support offered throughout Armando’s illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Tahirih Justice Center, http://www.tahirih.org/donate/, an organization that provides holistic legal services to women and girls fleeing gender-based violence and seeking justice under US law.
