Charles E. Smith, 78, went home to be with the Lord and with his wife Anise on October 15, 2011. An Eagle Scout, East Texas State R.O.T.C. graduate and U.S Air Force officer for 21 years, he retired as a Major in 1975 after earning a bronze star in Vietnam. A second career landed him at the City of Houston water department and First City Bank, then was a school teacher with Spring and Aldine ISD. He served as a deacon at North Woods Baptist Church for the last 25 years.
He is survived by his son Kyle Smith and wife Mary Rose, daughter Julie Dowdican and husband Paul, daughter Cindy Lewis and husband Jerry, eight grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren.
