Enrique Armando Avila Reyes passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 1, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his daughters Diana, Liliam, and Silvia; his mother, Liliam; and his siblings Elsa, Reyna, Marilu, and Modesto.
Quique --as he was affectionately known by his family-- was born to Isidoro Avila and Liliam Avila (née Reyes) in Santa Cruz Barillas, Guaguatenango, Guatemala. He was a proud US citizen who loved that the entire nation celebrated his birthday on the 4th of July. Quique took pride in being a successful business owner, dedicated to providing for his family. But the greatest joy in his life were his daughters. The daughters he saw grow into compassionate, intelligent, and quirky women. (And we love that he was a grudgingly wonderful grandpa to our many cats.)
One of his greatest qualities was his unyielding belief in people. Quique believed everyone had good intentions, he saw the best in everyone and went out of his way to support others. For those reasons, Quique never met a stranger. He was friendly, generous, and the ultimate conversationalist to anyone who had the pleasure to cross paths with him.
His family hopes he is remembered for his easy-going, warm, welcoming nature, who only drank his coffee piping hot, and most importantly, as the man who loved his family beyond measure.
Quique was 59.
