Ernestina "Tina" Fuentes Garcia
24 juillet , 1925 – 16 octobre , 2019
Ernestina "Tina" Garcia Fuentes passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 16, 2019, in Tomball, Texas. She was born in Laredo, Texas and raised in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.
She began her early career as a nanny and housekeeper for Mr. Springer, who worked for the U.S. Customs Department for many years. Later, she chose to relocate to Detroit, Michigan to join her brother, Fernando, and older sister, Maria. She worked for a doctor as a nanny and a housekeeper until his children were grown, and later worked for Greyhound in food service. Tina was endlessly devoted to helping those around her.
She chose to return to Texas to join her sister, Maria, and her niece, Janie Lang, in Austin. She worked as a housekeeper and nanny for Dr. Brumley and Dr. Dale Parker for many years. Later, she took a job in food service for a fraternity house at the University of Texas. Tina then moved to Spring to join her niece, Gloria Stryker, and her help her raise her two children, Stacy Stryker and Elizabeth Stryker, and her grandchildren, Mallory Schreiber and Paige Porter, where she resided until her passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fernando Garcia Laos and San Juana Garcia Fuentes; sisters, Consuelo Garcia, Tomacita Garcia, Maria Garcia Hernandez, Santos Garcia Fuentes, and her brother Fernando Garcia. She is survived by her brother, Juan Jose Garcia of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. She leaves behind three nieces, two nephews, many great-nieces, great-nephews, and many beloved friends.
Tina loved socializing, dancing, music, and shopping. She loved being well-dressed, even if it was a trip to the store. Along with her love of music, her favorite drink besides lemonade was a cold Dos Equis beer or a margarita.
She made friends wherever she went and loved to travel. Later in life, she traveled to many places with her nieces and brother Fernando. Whether a short cruise to an island or a quick trip to just lay on the beach in the beautiful white sands of Mexico, Tina had her passport and was ready anytime to go anywhere.
Tina was a great woman and we know with no doubt that her last trip was going to our Heavenly Father, our Lord in Heaven.
We will miss her, and we are so blessed to have shared in her adventures over the years. We all love you, and we will forever cherish every moment, every time we had with you, our beloved Tina. We truly look forward to our day when we will all be reunited.

Dear my beloved Tina,
Thank you for everything you have done for me growing up. You made sure my belly was full of amazing homecooked meals and that I was always entertained with Tom and Jerry episodes. You kept me from running into the streets and didn’t let me break a single bone which is incredible because I was a six-year-old only child bored out of mind puttering around in a rock yard. You took care of me when I was sick and forced me to bathe in freezing water to bring my fevers down. I am grateful for it all. You accompanied me on vacations with Cecil and my mother to Mexico many times and we would talk chisme on the hammocks all night long. I’m going to miss you and I cherish the memories we had experienced together.

Aunt Tina has so many words that can describe her. Sweet, loving, nurturing, giving, easy-going, strong, but the two that I believe best describes her the most are CARING and PROTECTING.
Caring- She not only watched many children; she took care of two generations of our family’s kids. She cared for not only me, but Elizabeth, Mallory and Paige. She always made sure all our needs were met. Making sure we had clean clothes, a clean home and a good home-cooked meal. From her Mac and Cheese to her delicious Soupa; Tia’s cooking was the BEST!
Protecting is the next word that describes my sweet Tia. We were her responsibility and she made sure nothing would happen to us. She stood FIRM in her decisions. When I was younger, I thought I could sweet talk Aunt Tina into letting us hang out with friends, but NO she didn’t allow for any of it. I remember her even chasing away boys with the broom.
Her protecting and FIRM characteristics also describe her faith. She stood firm in the word and believed in Jesus. Therefore, I know my Tina is up in Heaven with not only her brothers and sisters, but with our Heavenly Father.
So, the greatest GIFT Tia Tina and all Christians can give you today is JESUS! Believe in Him and stand FIRM in your faith like Aunt Tina, so we can join her again, our brothers and sisters, and be in the presence of our Almighty God and live forever!
I love you Tina and I’ll see you again.
Death is a holy event. Psalms 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”
