

Gary Allen Loafman, 69, of Spring Texas passed away on December 19, 2020 in Houston. He was born at Scott AFB June 28, 1951. Gary served his country in the USMC from 1969 to 1971. In 1976 he moved to Ft Walton Beach to become pit master at Hickory House and later Mary’s Kitchen. It was at Hickory House that he met Phyllis and on August 26, 1976 he married his love. Gary was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as Worshipful Master in 1984. He spent 27 years in law enforcement; working for Shalimar Police Department and working up the ranks to Chief of Police; retiring from Okaloosa County Sheriff Department in 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis and 6 children Kelly (Craig) Woods, Laurie (Vic) Rosado, Jeff (Becky) Michael, Chris Loafman, Brian (Alexis) Michael and Sharon Stephens, 2 sisters Eva (Joe) Fletcher, Peggy (Dennis) Carlson, 4 Brothers Jerry (Liz) Jones, Mike (Glenda) Jones, Tommy (Julie) Jones and Doug (Paula) Jones, 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, Brother-in-law Travis Brown, Sister-in-law Alicia Byrd, several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held in his honor from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Spring Baptist Church, 633 East Louetta Road, Spring, TX 77373. The celebration of life will commence at 10:30 a.m., after which Gary's family would like to invite his friends and loved ones to a reception. The committal service will take place at 2:15 p.m. at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston Texas 77038, where he will be laid to rest with honors.
