

George David Burks, 79, of Houston, Texas passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2025. Born on March 6, 1945, in Houston, Texas to Charles Burks and Martha Hunter Burks, David lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.
David proudly served his country as a sergeant E5 in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he embarked on a career with Honeywell and Gray Tool Company, ultimately finding fulfillment and ending his career as a hot-shot driver.
David was preceded in death by his father, Charles Burks; mother, Martha Hunter Burks; and stepfather, Roy Sexton. He is survived by his beloved wife, Wilma; his children, Glen, Christopher and Sonya, and Courtney and Michael; and his cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Kortni, Justin and Matthew, Lindsay and Neko, Kelsee and Brennen, and Sophie and Joey. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Zayden, Adalynn, Richard, and Charlotte, who brought immense joy to his life.
Known for his storytelling, David captivated audiences with tales from times long past and his own life experiences. His jovial nature and knack for humor were evident in his love for sharing jokes, always aiming to bring a smile to those around him. His compassion extended beyond people, rescuing countless dogs over his many years, each becoming a special part of his family.
David’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Spring First Church, 1851 Spring Cypress Rd., Spring, TX 77388. Reception to follow.
