Gilbert Montoya passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on October 13, 1957, to Elias and Cristina Montoya, in Houston, Texas. Gilbert spent his life as a resident of Houston, where he created many fond memories with family and friends.
Throughout his career, Gilbert made a significant impact as a painter and supervisor at Milam Painting, dedicating 18 years to the company and becoming a respected figure in his field.
On May 21, 2016, Gilbert married the love of his life, Rose Mary Lopez, in Houston, Texas. Together, they shared wonderful years of marriage until her passing. He is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Huckabee and her husband Brian Huckabee, Rosie Cobb and her husband Zach Cobb, Jennifer Garcia and her husband Luis Garcia, Lori Almeda and her husband Everardo Almeda, and Catherine Carranza. Gilbert's family also includes his sisters Mary and Juan Hernandez, Esther and Henry Ortiz, Maggie and Salvador Negrete, and Linda Montoya; his brothers David and Yvonne Montoya, Steve and Gloria Montoya, Javier and Julio Montoya, and Daniel Montoya; and his parents Elias and Cristina Montoya of Houston, Texas. Gilbert was blessed with 27 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Rose Montoya and sister Yolanda Ramirez.
In his personal life, Gilbert found joy in spending time with his family, particularly enjoying fishing trips that built lasting bonds and memories.
A visitation will be held in honor of Gilbert's life on January 21, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and on January 22, 2026, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at Calvary Hill Funeral Home located at 21723 Aldine-Westfield Road, Humble, TX 77338. A rosary will be held on January 22, 2026, at 6:00 pm at the same venue. The funeral service honoring Gilbert's life will take place on January 23, 2026, at 10:00 am at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at Calvary Hill Cemetery at 11:00 am.
Gilbert Montoya's enduring legacy of love and dedication will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
