Nécrologie de Gilberto E. Recio Sr.
Gilberto E. Recio Sr., age 79, of Porter, Texas passed away in his home on Friday, January 21, 2022 with his loving wife by his side. Gilberto was born October 26, 1942. He was known as Eddie by family and friends in his early years and began using first name Gilbert(o) in his later years. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents: Feliciano Recio II and Rosa Salas-Recio, his sister: Amada; his brothers: Guadalupe, Jose Reynaldo, Feliciano III and Ernesto. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Recio of Porter, TX; his sons, Gilbert, Jr. (Michelle) of Houston, Tx; David (Aurora) of Pasadena, Tx; Jaime (Monica) of Humble, Tx and his daughter, Yvonne of Humble, TX. Also survived by his step-son Robert Shane Jones (Taylor) of Splendora, Tx; his ex wife, Mary Lou Gonzalez of Humble, Tx; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces & nephews. Eddie married Mary Lou Gonzalez on April 10, 1961 in Brownsville. He and Mary Lou had 28 years together and had their four children. Over the years they resided in Brownsville, Tx, Houston, TX and various locations in California. Gilbert met Deborah L. Recio in Houston in 1989 and they had been together since July 15 of that year. They had almost 33 years together traveling when they could and spending time with family and friends as often as possible. During his lifetime Gilbert worked at a record store when he was young, and after marriage as a convenience store clerk, a pest control technician and a security guard/officer at various shopping centers, movie theatres and banks. He would always go “above and beyond” to ensure the safety of patrons at establishments where he worked – going as far as to walk individuals to their cars if needed/wanted. He retired from his final job as a security officer in 2012 due to declining health. He volunteered as a coach for his kids baseball teams as they were growing up and very much enjoyed babysitting and spending time with his grandchildren when they were young. He was very much a people person with a wonderful sense of humor and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His humor will be remembered/missed for many years to come. Special thanks to the staff of Altus Hospice for their excellent care/concern, especially nurse: Meghan Thayer, home health aide: Kathryn Griffin, Social worker: Ashley Griffen-Jones and Chaplain: Rick. And also to his Primary Care Dr. Allan Daniels.
