Born in Minco, Oklahoma, Lora became a world traveler when she married her late husband, Karl. They traveled and worked around the globe as they raised their three children. Having worked as a bookkeeper her entire life, Lora’s fondest work experience was being Executive Director of the Humane Society of Smith County.
Lora is preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 55 years, Karl Axelrad, her parents: Ezekiel Dees and Ollie Irvin, her grandparents, two brothers, and her cherished Aunt Aida.
She is survived by her three children: Richard D. Axelrad (wife, Janet) of Surprise, Arizona, Vicki A. Axelrad, Spring, and Michael D. Axelrad (wife, Margit), Houston; her two grandchildren: Lauren E. Axelrad and Matthew C. Axelrad, brothers: Luke Koerner, Ray Koerner and Rockie Koerner, several nephews and cousins, and countless friends. Lora’s gift to us all was her unconditional love she shared each day.
Services will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home in Humble, Texas, on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored with contributions to the Holocaust Museum in Houston or the Humane Society of Houston or Smith County.
