A God-fearing woman of unwavering faith who lived her life fully devoted to Christ. She was a Presiding Elder and Overseer of New Beginning Cathedral Houston church. She lived her life as a reflection of Christ’s love. She had a servants heart, her life’s work was dedicated to ministry, social services and outreach. Her heart was especially drawn to outreach—lifting up women, caring for children, and extending hope to the homeless. She was genuine, selfless and full of grace, touching the lives of everyone blessed to know her. Her prayers were powerful and constant — she was a true prayer warrior who covered her family, friends, and even strangers with faith and compassion. Many found comfort, strength, and hope through her encouraging words and steadfast spirit.
Her legacy is one of faith in action.
She traveled the world and cherished every place and person she encountered. No matter where she went, she made others feel seen, welcomed, and loved.
Above all, her greatest treasure was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother to Steven LaBostrie (Toya), Dana Price (Steve) and Tina Tyler (Archie), a proud grandmother to Justin (Amanda), Jasmine (Kornell), Archelle, Courtney, Tre’on, Nathan and Mia, a cherished great-grandmother to Justin Jr, Jayce, Karter, Coby, Alivia, Jersi, Acesen & Ivy (expected), daughter of Dorothy Wharton, sister to Marcia Robinson, Coral Robinson (Danny), Wanda Tracey, Lisa Wharton and Karen Simmons (Vince), a host of nieces and nephews, many other family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father Herbert Wharton and sister Abbra Wiltz. Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured and the countless lives she shaped.
Though our hearts feel her absence deeply, we rejoice knowing she now rests in the presence of her Savior. Her faith, obedience, and love will continue to guide us always.
