Michael Shawn Fogarty’s song ended on June 10, 2022, at age 62, but his melody lingers in our hearts. He was surrounded by family and loved ones. Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Mike relocated to Texas in 1980, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston, Clear Lake. He set up residence, met, and married the Love of His Life, Brenda (Cremer), in 1986. They would have celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on June 14 this year.
In his youth, “Fogh”, as he was affectionately known by his young friends, was very active with an environmental Explorer Post and Teen Group and realized a passion for being on the water. He obtained his Coast Guard Captain’s License in his early 20s and continued to enjoy sailing and boating throughout life.
Mike found his calling working with and teaching children and youth with special needs, including juvenile offenders, those with autism, and an array of intellectual and physical disabilities. He continued for over 40 years and resigned only when health presented challenges that he felt kept him from being at his best for the children.
Mike was predeceased by his beloved Father, Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, their son, Nick, their grandson, Victor; his mother, Margaret Ann Fogarty, sisters, MaryBeth (Kelly) Felty, Kathy (Mark) Henderson, Patty (Greg) Harper, brother, Kevin (Tracy) Fogarty, brother in law, Brian (Sherry) Cremer, 14 nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Michael will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 21723 Aldine-Westfield Road, Humble, TX 77338, followed by a memorial service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Reception to follow.
