Russell James Richard made his entrance into the world on May 24, 1953. He grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, raised in a loving family, surrounded by warmth and support. His early years were marked by laughter, love, and the promise of a bright future. Russell graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971, just a few years after Janis Joplin and Jimmy Johnson.
However, as he grew older, he encountered the tumultuous challenges of mental illness. Despite the unwavering love and support of his family, he found himself grappling with inner demons that led him down a path of isolation and turmoil.
There were moments in his life when he treaded a solitary path, but Russell was never truly alone. His love for his family was a beacon of light in his life, a constant source of comfort and strength. He often asked about family members who he wasn’t in contact with anymore and sent his love from afar. We will forever cherish Russell for the moments of kindness, compassion, and empathy he shared with so many people over the years.
While Russell may no longer walk among us, his spirit will live on in the memories of those who loved him. We find peace in knowing that Russell is at peace, fully restored, and resting in the arms of a loving and gracious God.
Russell is survived by sons, Andre Richard of Houston, Adam Richard of Houston, and Chris Richard of Houston. Sisters, Elizabeth Griffin of Seguin, Sherry Spears of Cypress. Nephew, Gerald Morvant of Groves, Texas and a host of grandchildren, a great grandchild and other family members.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at the Calvary Hill Funeral Home Chapel, 21723 Aldine Westfield Rd, Humble, TX, at 11 AM, on April 6, 2024.
