William George Yanock “Willie” William George Yanock, known to friends as “Willie,” passed away on October 9, 2019 at the age of 66 years.

Willie was born a second generation American, his grandfather was a native of what is now Prague, Czech Republic. His grandfather’s last name was Dvorak and his father, George Yanock, had his name changed to his adopted name - Yanock. Willie attended all boys Catholic schools his entire childhood with his two older brothers George and Richard Yanock. He was required to learn the Latin language at a time when corporal punishment was a standard practice in Catholic schools. A native of Ohio, Willie loved the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns.

In the early 1980’s he met his life companion, Patricia Lee Yanock. Willie adopted Patti's then four year old son, John, and they moved to Houston, Texas to live with Willie." Willie and Patti had two more children, Michael and Lucy Yanock who were raised in north Houston. It was important to him that his children attend Catholic church, have a strong moral backbone and integrity. Willie was passionate about his children’s sport activities and spent his time attending their swimming, track and basketball events. Willie was a man ahead of his time, he loved being at home with his children - making sure they went to all their swim lessons and that he made supper for them every night. He loved being a quintessential Dad – teaching his kids to be resourceful and financially responsible, maintaining yards, vehicles and pets. He truly put his children’s needs ahead of his own ambitions. He was a kind, loving and forgiving man.

Willie worked in the oil and gas industry, financial sector, and technology before finishing his career as a State of Texas Correctional Officer. He cared about politics and public policy. He loved music- especially The Who, Joni Mitchell and The Beatles, Impressionist art, love poems, animals and the beauty of nature. Willie passed suddenly after being discharged from Memorial Hermann in the Houston Medical Center after undergoing a new FDA-Approved TAVR procedure.

Willie is survived by his life companion of nearly 40 years, Patricia Lee Yanock, sons John T. Yanock (Melanie), Michael P. Yanock (Nicole), daughter Lucy K. Yanock and two grandchildren Parker P. Yanock and Quinn L. Yanock.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Calvary Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21723 Aldine Westfield Road, Humble, TX 77338. Memorial donations in memory of Willie can be made to World Wildlife Fund online at support.worldwildlife.org and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston at mfah.org.

Mr. Yanock was my buddy we sat several days/ hours at the hospital as we worked. We talked about his boys, Lucy, Patti, his daughter’s cat that he inherited, a dog, his brother and friend in San Antonio and last but not least his favorite coworker Ms Shorts. The highlight was definitely Quinn and Parker. We had conversations about a little of everything. He was so knowledgeable about so much. I am cherishing our last texts. Still in disbelief. RIP
Love ya Sir.

Uncle Willie,
Gone too soon. I will always hold dear the day when you agreed to stand in for my dad (your big brother) after he passed away just days before my wedding. I wish you all lived closer all of these years, but the times that we did spend together were special and I will always cherish those memories. You were the best ❤️ You will be missed; the world has lost a good man.
Love to all of you,
Kelly

Willie - words can't describe how I feel. Loved you like a brother, but we were even closer. From freshman at Chanel until 50 years later, always friends. Glad I got to tell you I love you!
