Allen "Johnny" D. Torrance

Allen, also affectionately known as "Johnny", was born on March 22, 1948 to David Lee and Lucy Mae Torrance. Johnny was the fourth of eight children. He was a long time resident of South Philadelphia. He graduated from South Philadelphia High School in 1965. He trained to become a dental hygienist, but left school to serve his country in the Vietnam War. Johnny went on to establish a career as a Custodian, working for the City of Philadelphia for over 18 years.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Ellen, his children; Tamika, Karima, Kameelah, Aqueelah, Allen, and one step-daughter Lisa. Thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lucy Torrance, and one grandson, Samyr Walker.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sharon Baptist Church, 3955 Conshohocken Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. Family processional at 10:30 AM, followed by the military honors and funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a later date.
