Ed was born on June 10, 1935, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to Clarence and Elizabeth “Betty” Potts. Ed started off with his own used car business called Potts Motor Sales. He established a career with General Motors and later worked as a self-employed car salesman for more than 40 years. He also served proudly in the United States Marine Corps.
Ed was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, listening to Frank Sinatra, relaxing on the beach, and driving down A1A in his convertible Mercedes, with his wife Jacqueline. A devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, he especially loved the teams of the 1970s. He would watch golf on Sundays.
An avid sports enthusiast, he made every effort to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events. He loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and was known for his iconic red-and-white striped sweater. Never a man of moderation, Ed was full of life and loved to party. With his gift of gab and natural storytelling ability, he had a way of lighting up any room and leaving a lasting impression.
Ed was preceded in death by his only brother, Gerald Potts, and by Joan Potts, the mother of six of his children.
Ed is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; his children, Karen (Joe), Kathy (Rick), Eddie (Mindy), Gary (Lisha), Karol (Ken), Kristy, Brian; his stepson, Joe (Teresa); 16 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
