Edward Morris Zweig was a born on December 14, 1916. He was born in the house at 4740 Rosehill Street in Feltonville on the kitchen Table. In those days the doctor would lift the baby, bounce them around a little to determine their weight. The doctor lifted Edward and declared he weighed ten pounds. He was the smallest after his big brothers,Harry and Ameil. A few years later, their sister Ruth was born, also in the Rosehill house.
Edward attended Clara Barton Elementary School, and then went on to Olney high School, where he graduated in 1935. He excelled in sports, particularly in football and basketball. He was a single wing quarterback for the Olney High Trojans. He played basketball with his brother Ameil in the church league. His sister Ruth and Ameil's fiancé Etta were there every game to cheer them on. Edward had the opportunity to attend a community college to play football, which he did until he found out he also had to do schoolwork. He lasted there roughly six months. He worked with his father delivering matches for the Ohio Match Company. He had many neighborhood friends with whom he grew up, and when one of them landed a job at the Budd Company, he convinced Edward to apply for a job. He became an apprentice boy, as they were called. He retired from the Budd Company in 1975 after 35 years of service as a supervisor.
In 1939, he met the love of his life, Dorothy. He proposed to her on Christmas Day 1939, with her engagement ring in a box of Chocolates. They were married on November 2, 1940.
During World War II, Edward was a Navy seaman aboard the USS Zeilin, which was a transport ship. The Zeilin made a round-trip voyage to the South Pacific, then took part in the Guadalcanal Campaign, during which she was damaged by Japanese air attack on November 9, 1942.
In 1943, much to everyone's delight, their identical twin sons, Richard and Kenneth were born. Then MANY, MANY, MANY years later, a princess was born, and they named her Judy.
With Kenneth's marriage they welcomed another daughter, Elaine. In the following years, Ken and Elaine had three beautiful children, Jonathan, Susanna, and Rebekah. They were the apples of their grandparents eyes. In August 2011, Susanna gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Misha. He was such a proud great grandfather when Misha attended his 95th birthday in December 2011.
In 2006, after 65 years of marriage, Dorthy passed away, and 6 1/2 years later, Edward rejoined the love of his life.
