Elba was born on September 19, 1932 in Panama, to parents, lcio Juan and Eudocia Pineda. Elba went on to establish a career as a singer, working for a radio station while living in Panama. One of her proudest moments was receiving the honor of Queen of Carnival in 1946. Shortly after arriving in the United States, Elba was a singer and dancer in her husband’s band, Orquesta Panama.
In addition, Elba’s participation in the Organization Raices Culturales Latinoamericanas included organizing traditional Panamanian Folk dancing groups for a variety of cultural venues.
Elba was preceded in death by her beloved spouse Theodore (Pipiolo) Dormoi and her sister Abigail Gray.
Elba Dormoi is survived by her daughter; Elba Crowley and spouse Sean Crowley, her daughter Vicky Nappi and partner Joey Molino, her son Teddy Dormoi, her son Ricky Dormoi and spouse Catalina Dormoi.
Grandchildren Alex and Nicholas Crowley, Dennis Nappi and wife Jenny, Michael Nappi and wife Casey, Teddy, Adrian and Brianna Dormoi, Melanie and George Valejos, Ricky Dormoi, Joshua Rios, and Aubrey Dormoi.Great grandchildren Sebastian, Penelope and Clementine Nappi. Sisters Rita Russo, Vilma Rodriguez, Zaida Chong and brother, Richard Juan.
A memorial service for Elba will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Lamb Funeral Home Inc., 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania 19006.
