Jeanne Kimes

Jeanne was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, to parents Donald and Phoebe Fergusson. She graduated from Oregon State University in 1969 with a degree in Education and a minor in Music. Jeanne went on to establish a kindergarten in her home for many years.

Jeanne was a zealous minister of the good news. She loved to share her faith with everyone she encountered, from delivery drivers to health care workers. She loved children, and many remember the lessons they learned from her in their youth. She also had a deep love of music. Through the years she accompanied many sing-alongs at the piano, which held a central place in her home.

Over the course of her life, Jeanne helped many people — not through the efforts of a charity or any organized effort, but through her own personal, quiet initiative. She secured food and clothing donations for single mothers, and delivered flowers, food, and other comforts to those who had lost a spouse or other family member, or who were suffering from illness. She provided document enlargement and accessibility support to hearing- and vision-impaired individuals at great personal expense. When she was not well enough to make deliveries herself, she prepared the gifts and enlisted the help of her children, friends, and husband to carry them out. She always had a hug for anyone, even strangers she had just met, and offered encouragement to many — always ready with a kind word or a piece of practical advice.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Robert Kimes; her brother, Rob Fergusson; her brother-in-law, Donald Risk; and her children: Angela DeMatteis (Tony), Anita Marcus, Nathan Kimes (Breanna), Emily Morales (Angel), and Robert Kimes (Hülya). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Elias and Samantha Zoller, Phoebe Kimes, Samara and Callum Kimes, and Max, Lara, and Mira Kimes.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9th, at 4:00 p.m. EST at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1037 Spur Road, Souderton, PA 18964. The service will also be available via Zoom — Meeting ID: 823 1898 1131, Passcode: 132198.
