Joan A. Ruland

Joan A. Ruland, age 87, died Friday, December 15, 2017 at Majestic Oaks nursing home in Warminster. Daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Ruland, Joan was born and raised in Philadelphia. She graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls and was a longtime resident of Feasterville.

A former employee of the Library of Lower Southampton Township, Joan was an avid reader, especially historical fiction, and could always be relied upon to recommend a great book. She was an expert at crossword puzzles and a wiz at Jeopardy. She always treasured her time spent with her best friend Irene, having fun reminiscing over a nice glass of wine. She enjoyed traveling, having visited Europe, Canada, Mexico and many states. However, Joan’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. Whether it was Sunday dinners, a week at the shore or just a quick chat over tea and cake, those times were most dear to her.

Joan was the devoted mother of Patricia Villante (Joseph) of Warminster, Thomas McInnes (Cathy Silvasi) of Philadelphia, Michael McInnes (Lori) of Indian Hills, CO, Joan Chaykin (John) of Churchville, and the late Richard McInnes. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Moore and former wife of the late Tom McInnes.

Joan was the caring grandmother of Joseph Villante, Thomas Villante, William Schrier, Richard McInnes, Andrew McInnes, Natalie Chaykin, Michael Chaykin, Thomas McInnes and the late Laura Wolf and Patricia Villante. She was the loving sister of Barbara McInnes of Chalfont and Peg Kelleher (Edward) of Philadelphia and the late Frank Ruland (Peg). She is survived by nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Christopher Church, 13301 Proctor Rd. Philadelphia, PA 19116. Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
