Joseph R. Codispoti, MD

Joe was born on April 13, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA to parents, Joseph J. Codispoti and Theresa C. Codispoti. He graduated from Bishop Egan High School in 1961. He continued his education, graduating from La Salle College and Temple University. He was employed by the Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia as a Physicist and helped to develop laser range finding systems for use in the Vietnam War. He then enrolled and graduated from Jefferson Medical College with a degree in the Art of Medicine. Joe went on to establish a career as a physician, specializing in Internal Medicine and Pharmaceutical Research.

Joe was a man who loved to learn and had a deep appreciation for higher education. He cherished his time at the beach, where he met his beloved wife. Joe had a fondness for cats and enjoyed reading medical journals and other educational literature. He was a devoted family man, known for his wit and humor. A passionate sports fan, Joseph loved the Philadelphia Eagles, but his heart belonged to the Phillies.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph J. Codispoti and mother, Theresa C. Codispoti.

Joe is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Joyce (nee Moran) Codispoti, his loyal and caring sister, Carol Simons, his 17 adoring nieces and nephews, and he is also survived by many cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial visitation which will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 10:30am to 11:30am at St. Christopher's Parish, located at 13301 Proctor Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116. Followed by the funeral mass at 11:30am. Proceeded by the inurnment at Forest Hills Cemetery, 25 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006, at 12:45pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
