

Linda Silverman of Philadelphia, PA peacefully passed away on January 15, 2024 just short of 92 years old. Linda was a cherished wife, loving mother and grandmother, talented actor, world traveler and school librarian. Born on February 5, 1932 to Ema and Robert Minster, Linda was the wife of the late David Silverman and is survived by her devoted sons, Neil and Lee, and their families. Her grandchildren, Caleb and Kai, were a constant source of joy, and Linda formed close bonds with her daughter-in-laws, Donna and Jodi.
Linda grew up in Far Rockaway, New York where she spent her childhood roller skating on the boardwalk. After High School she graduated from Queens College and spent her early adulthood traveling throughout Europe, which was the beginning of a lifelong love for travel. After meeting her husband, David, a South Philadelphia native, she moved to the West Mount Airy section of Philadelphia, PA where she settled down to raise a family.
Linda was known for her sharp wit, curiosity and compassionate heart. She was incredibly charismatic and confident and made friends wherever she went. She especially went out of her way to meet and engage with those who were less fortunate and was a ferocious civil rights advocate.
Linda dedicated many years to education as a school librarian in the School District of Philadelphia. She fostered a love for reading and learning among the students she served and was dedicated to her work in underserved communities, continuing to volunteer in Philadelphia schools after her retirement.
