

Marie was born on January 5, 1931 in Philadelphia, to parents, George Zeiher & Mary Gallagher. Sister to the late George T. Zeiher.
She graduated from Little Flower High School, married and raised 7 children in the Somerton section of Philadelphia. Marie worked in the offices at Holy Redeemer Hospital, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and De Lasalle in Town, a school run by the Franciscan Brothers for adjudicated youth. Heeding a calling, twenty years before retiring, she earned her Associates Degree from Albright College and began a career as a Certified Addictions Counselor. She worked as a counselor at The Bridge, a residential center for at risk teens in Philadelphia. Some of those clients went on to open dozens of halfway houses to help other addicts recover. She also worked at Northwestern Institute and in private practice. In retirement, Marie remained an active member of St. Cyril’s of Jerusalem Catholic Church in Jamison, serving in the Senior Citizen’s Group, as a Eucharistic Minister and as a member of the choir. She also volunteered to crochet blankets for hospice patients at Abington Hospital for the past few years.
Marie is survived by her 7 children: Kathleen Acey (George), Joanne Flewelling (Bruce), Frederick Kummer (Joan), Viola Pipkin (Ronnie), Charles Kummer (Jennifer), George Kummer, and Kristine Raedler. Marie was blessed with 16 grandchildren: Ross Lewandowski (Shirley), Crystal Scheswohl, Danielle Smith (Will), Jessica Scheswohl, Lauren Murphy (Keith), Megan Kummer, Freddie Kummer (Katie), Sarah Garrett (Pat), Kelsey Kummer, Sean Kummer (Keira), Mason Kummer, Stephen Kummer (Lauren), Nicolas Kummer, Jakob Raedler, and Kristopher Raedler as well as 5 great grandchildren and many devoted friends.
A visitation for Marie will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 1410 Almshouse Road, Jamison, PA 18929, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
