Aunt Minnie was always the life of the party. She had an aura that exuded kindness, love, and wisdom. She knew exactly what to say to make you smile. Laughing was always inevitable when Aunt Minnie was around. She will be missed so dearly. She will always live on in our fondest memories.

We are so broken-hearted to hear the news of Aunt Minnie's passing.  Aunt Minnie has been so much a part of my life over all these years and we are all at a loss without her. I will always remember her fun, quick-witted hilarious comments and loving, Irish spirit!  We will always miss her, and I am so glad I was able to share a few jokes with her last week when I was in town, and tell her I loved her. We send our love, thoughts and prayers and have included the Irish Funeral Prayer below. We hope it helps you to find some peace during this difficult time.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for enriching my mother's life.

Some of you made her feel so special.
Some greeted her by saying hi beautiful
Some by a big hug or kiss to greet her each time they met
Some were her boyfriends (I cannot name names, you know who you are).

Some called her to chat
Some were her breakfast buddies, others she met for dinner
Some made sure she had her cup of ice, her decaf, her straw, her ice-cream
Some purchased a step and kept it in their car just so she could get in more easily
Some made her one of a kind birthday cakes, and made sure that the broccoli was cooked just so.

Some always remembered her at the holiday and sent cards every Mother's Day, Easter, Christmas. 
Sometimes a little money was slipped into the card and that always produced a wide, happy grin.
Some knew she would be there with the extended family for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.

Some loved her stories as a little girl in Ireland and marveled at her crossing an ocean to start a new life in a new county.

Some called her Aunt Minnie, God-mother, Maire-baeg, Minuche, Mrs. McGlynn
No one called her mother-in-law, she was simply mom.
One called her grandmom; he of course was the smartest, handsomest grandson God ever put on this earth.
All called her friend.

Some mentioned her quick wit and great sense of humor.
Some remarked on her loving, Irish spirit.
Some thought the world of her and felt honored to have met her.
Some said they would pray for her.
Some said they were broken-hearted to hear the news of mom's passing
and that they would miss her terribly.

So, I would like to take the opportunity, on behalf of myself and my sisters (family) to thank all of you, for all you did, for all your thoughtfulness to mom, the laughter you shared with her, your company, and most especially for the love you gave her that so enriched my mother's life.

An Irish Funeral Prayer
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.

She will be dearly missed.

Mary's Eulogy delivered by her daughter, Mary Jo

She was called Mary, Mom, Grand mom, Aunt Minnie, Maire Beag.
Our Mother was an amazing and generous woman who dearly and unconditionally loved her family, she made sure her love was felt and never doubted.  She also loved people and never met a stranger; She had a great love for animals - especially her dogs. 
Our Mother was a woman of strong faith in God's and his love. That faith and love she taught to her daughters. Her faith helped us all through good times and challenging times.  She gave us the gift of knowing no matter what, we are not alone, that God is with us to guide and protect us.
Mom embraced life with arms wide open with a wonderful sense of humor and remarkable wit. She had a great smile and an infectious laugh that when you heard her laughing you couldn't help but to laugh with her, sometimes you didn't even know what she was laughing at. (She would be laughing so hard she couldn't even tell you)
The Irish spirit of adventure didn't pass her by. She was only 16 years old when left her parents and home in Donegal to work in Glasgow, Scotland.  In 1942 she traveled to London, was employed at the Strand Hotel in the heart of London. Even though it was during World War II, for her it was the best of times during the worst of times she met many historically important people including a young Queen Elizabeth, Many of her fondest memories are of that time.
1956 found her in Philadelphia, PA, where she met our father, Peter McGlynn, and married. Together they raised us three girls with faith, support and love. They instilled in us a work ethic and scarified to give us a good education.  We were raised to have our feet on the ground but our heads in the stars. In America you can be whatever you want to be.
Widowed in 1979, now a single parent with two daughters at home, Mom reinvented herself, moved to Montgomery County worked at The English village Apartments. She later worked for her niece, Kathleen McDonald, at the Irish Rover Inn.  The Rover was a source of great fun and even better stories which included some very special & remarkable people which she remembered with laughter up until a few days ago (Especially the young man who gave her $100 tip because she reminded him of his grandmother.)
Mom was the youngest child of Bridget and James Gallagher and was blessed with an amazing extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins which now covers four generations. Please have no doubt that she loved and cherished you all. (We want to thank you for returning that love in your words and actions.)
One of the greatest joys in our mother's life was her beloved grandson Michael Santiana, who she happily spoiled as much as she could.  Her example, advice and guidance help raise a young man of whom we are all very proud of.
Mom's life, as is with all our lives, was filled with good times and difficult times but the joys by far outweighed the tears and through it all there was love.
We celebrate 93 years 2 months and 8 days, the life of Mary Gallagher McGlynn.  All of you her family and friends both here and the one she is now with are the celebration of her life. (Over time please share with us and others your memories of Mary Gallagher McGlynn)
Mom your life taught your daughters how to positive in the face of adversity, to have faith in God and his plan, to embrace all life has to offer without fear and to love Irish music.  Your sweet smile and laugh even until your dying day let us know your shining light will always be with us.
It was so hard to watch you slip away.  As Kathleen told you, if you could live on love you would never die.  These tears for our loss will soon be replaced with smiles knowing you're dancing with the angels. We hold you in our hearts until we meet again.  (We love you the Mostest!)

Hi Patti, so very sorry to hear about your Mom, she was such a lovely lady and always a pleasure to be around and hear her jokes and great stories, she will be sadly missed by all who has had the pleasure of her company.

So sorry for your loss. So glad that Bob and I were able to see her one last time.
You are now orphans as well as us. It is a lost and lonely feeling to be alone without your parents. She is now happy with Uncle Peter and will be looking down on her family and praying for their salvation. Love you my cousins and pray for your peace.
