I am so glad to have known Melanie. She never turned away from an opportunity to help someone - whether residents, staff, friends, or students.   Her capacity to love deeply, speak her truth, and find joy in so many things in life will continue inspire me forever.  
Melanie will always hold a very special place in my heart and I wish I could thank her for her infinite kindness, many shared laughs, and her openness to try new things.  She was such a source of light and she will be missed.

“She was the lovely, wise woman she was because early in her life she chose Christ as her center, her home, and her example.”
It is difficult to imagine, living life from her perspective these past decades, without having the deep faith she had.  We cried together over Carrie Underwood’s rendition of “How Great Thou Art.”  But mostly, she laughed, as we all well know, and found a deep well of patience and pleasure despite her unexpected journey.  She was a bright beacon and steady ballast for so many of us.  Until we meet again, my friend.  Soli Deo Gloria.

Melanie, a.k.a. Pooh will always be a Mark in my life that I would never ever erase. It’s like a white sheet with red ink spilt on it you’ll never be able to remove it and that’s how I feel about Melanie.Melanie wasn’t my patient!!! She was my family and I will always love her she will never be forgotten. so sorry for your loss, Revelation 21:4 and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.. that’s a promise from Gods word.

I have worked at Inglis for the past 35 years and I have seen many many residents have to struggle with the results of their disabilities. I have witnessed some of the most courageous people and among those Melanie stands out as one of the most remarkable women I have ever met. Melanie's smile and joyfulness were felt with every interaction and she was always appreciative of all the adaptations and work that I provided to her. Her patience with everyone was incredible as we all tried to interact with her with sometimes difficult communication and instead of becoming angry and frustrated she would often laugh at my
Inability to understand her at times as hard as I tried. Melanie would text me so that I could fully understand her issues so I could help her and I know she was appreciative of this. I know she loved her family and it was clear to me that it was very much reciprocated. We are all blessed to have had Melanie in our lives to remind us to be gracious courageous appreciative & joyous and to always have a smile. It is with a heavy heart that I write all of this as I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers go to her family and all who knew her and were touched by her mere presence in our lives.

Your mom sure was a spit fire and she will always hold a special place in my heart. It was an honor being able to help you help her throughout the last 28 years. My favorite memories were always seeing her at our soccer games cheering us on, watching her stroll around the neighborhood in her chair always with a smile on her face. Her funny HSN stories and boy did she love her shopping and even last week her worries of her HSN order! We were laughing out loud… 
With all that your mom endured she did it with dignity and never a complaint. Mel got to see her babies grow up and her grand-babies being born and doing what they love. She certainly will be missed. Love to all ❤️

Melanie was such a wonderful person! She was a great Stepmother to my sister and me! She was fun-loving and funny, yet gentle and kind. I enjoyed every moment I spent with her! Knowing this and losing my own mother, I understand how difficult her loss is! I will be keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers!
