Shirley Marie Pinkerton died peacefully at her home in Feasterville, PA, on the morning of her 101st birthday. She was the wife of the late Roger E. Pinkerton to whom she had been married for 52 years. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 5, 1924 to Alexander and Mary Maharidge. She was a graduate of Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio. She and Roger moved to Philadelphia after their marriage and to their home in Feasterville in 1951, where she lived until her death. She worked as assistant to the deans of Thomas Jefferson University Medical College for many years and after retiring did volunteer work at the Atwater Kent Museum and the Independence Seaport Museum. She was devoted to the opera, ballet, theater, and art. She and Roger loved to travel and had traveled extensively on five continents.
She is survived by her daughters Mira Pinkerton of Seven Lakes, NC; Patricia A. Pinkerton and her husband Arthur Wieland of Seven Lakes, NC; and Susan L. Pinkerton and her husband Jeffrey Bissert of Doylestown, PA. Also survived by granddaughter Danielle P. Bissert and her husband Daniel Klein and their daughter Nora of Philadelphia; step-granddaughters Kate Wieland, Laura McCoy, and Natalie Sheets, all of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Russell Maharidge.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 18, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Toscana 52 Restaurant, 4603 Street Rd, Feasterville-Trevose, PA 19053.
