Mr. Hickey was a retired Philadelphia Police Officer, serving on the Bomb Squad and Stakeout Unit. In retirement he also worked at FMC for a period of time and several golf courses to stay close to the game he loved so much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William Hickey, his sister and brother-in-law Jacqueline and Edward Misczak, and brother in-law John Schultz.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Anne, his two sons and their families, Thomas M. Hickey and Rebecca Harmon of Mt. Airy, NC and Patrick J. Hickey and Leisha Shorey of North Caldwell, NJ. Additional surviving family members include sisters in-law, Jane Schultz of Yardville, NJ and An Hickey of Annandale, VA, 2 grandchildren and their families, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews and many close family friends.
Mr. Hickey was best known for his kind, jovial nature, sparkling blues eyes, great smile, and love of life. He had the innate ability to make everyone he encountered feel like they were special. Conversations with him were always engaging and filled with laughter. Although he loved his work, family, and friends, nothing brought him greater joy than watching a PGA tournament or cashing in a winning lottery ticket or OTB/PARX wager. It is a passion he has instilled in his family and shared with his closest friends. Every time we place a bet or hear "Yo 11" we will be thinking of him.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 10am-11am, followed by an 11:00am Memorial Mass, at Assumption BVM Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Rd, Feasterville, PA 19053.
