

Carolyn S. Parsons, 83 of Warren and formerly of Roanoke passed away at 3:45 am on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Heritage Pointe in Warren. Carolyn was a 1947 graduate of Huntington High School, a 1961 graduate of St. Francis College with a Bachelors of Science degree in writing, a 1968 graduate of St. Francis College with a Masters degree in education. She taught all grades from 4th through college in both religious and public schools. She worked her way through college at the telephone company in Fort Wayne. She studied in Scotland for two summers at Dundee University as part of the program she led student groups on tours of Europe. She studied vocal performance for 12 years, performing with Fort Wayne Summer Symphonies, area concerts and numerous Huntington Messiah performances. She worked for 9 months as a telephone operator at Camp Atterbury war-time services for soldiers. Throughout both her telephone and teaching careers, she was very active in union efforts, specifically with CWA-C10 and the Indiana State Teachers Association. She retired in 1988 from Homestead High School. Her hobbies included reading, cross-stitch and quilting. She was president of QB Quilting Club, the first club to host a national quilting show, sponsored by the National Quilting Association in 1980.
Carolyn was born on January 8, 1930 in Huntington, the daughter of Joe and Norma (Penland) Petrucelle.
She was united in marriage to Thomas E. Parsons on May 1, 1971 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Her husband survives.
Additional survivors include a niece: Kathy Roby of Fort Wayne; a nephew: Tony Petrucelle of Indiana.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Donald Petrucelle.
There will be no visitation or funeral service.
