Hosana Burgess

Hosana graduated from Huntington College with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

Hosana was born on September 8, 1949, in Brazil. She worked in data entry and type-setting in Brazil’s largest newspaper, where she met her future husband, Ronald L. Burgess. She also worked as a translator and was a volunteer coach for her son’s youth soccer league.

Hosana had a green thumb and cultivated exotic flowers and plants in her garden. She had a passion for nature and loved being outdoors, especially in her beloved backyard and vegetable garden. She was an avid reader who loved learning about science and philosophy. Her hobbies included photography, listening to podcasts, playing Sudoku, knitting and crocheting. She loved listening to classical music and opera; her favorite opera was Bizet’s “Carmen.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, her ex-husband, and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Maria Henriques of Virginia; a son, Alex (Natalie) Burgess of Huntington; two grandchildren, Rome John and Eluciana; three step-grandchildren, Evan, Ellie and Easah; and several sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
