James E. “Jim” Garwood, 91 of Huntington passed away at 4:03 am on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at his residence. Jim was a 1946 graduate of Union Township High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Jim was a member of Huntington Baptist Church. He had worked for Enyeart Equipment in construction, Huntington Lab and Indiana Equipment.
Jim was born on June 22, 1927 in Union Township, the son of Evan and Pearl (Crist) Garwood.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Layman on November 19, 1950 in Huntington. She preceded him in death on October 10, 2014.
Survivors include two sons: Max (Barbara) Garwood of Huntington; J.D. (Sue) Garwood of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren: Marquis (Sarah) Garwood, Judy Garwood, Christie Garwood and David Garwood; one great grandchild: Evan Garwood.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Bob Garwood, and Dwight Garwood; two sisters: Ann Nevil, and Ruth Garwood; and two grandchildren: Eva Garwood and Wayne Garwood.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Amos Albright officiating.
Interment will be at the Clear Creek Cemetery in Huntington County.
