
Jerry C. Simmons, 71 of Huntington passed away at 12:40 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Norwood Health & Rehabilitation Center. He worked for Schnider Electric (Formerly Square D) for 48 years. He served in the United States National Guard for several years. He enjoyed guns and all things military and he loved his cats.
He was born on May 12, 1941 in Kentland, Indiana. A son of Clarence A. and Ruby B. (Timmons) Simmons.
He was united in marriage to Ima Jean (Short) Pinkerton on July 2, 1971 in Roanoke. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include two stepdaughters: Beth (Bill) Armstrong of Huntington; Teresa Pinkerton of Huntington; a stepson: Charles “Chuck” Pinkerton of Huntington; a sister: Jan Bieghler of Huntington; A nephew: Andy Simmons of Fort Wayne; a niece: Tammy (Steve) Vibbert; a grandson: Joseph Pinkerton and six additional grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Services will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, 648 N. LaFontaine Street, Huntington with Rev. Richard Lofgren officiating.
Interment will be at the Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
