Joan Maxine Pursifull, 92, of Bluffton and formerly of Markle, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Stillwater Hospice. Joan was a 1951 graduate of Rock Creek Center High School in Wells County. As a young girl she helped with chores on the family farm. She had worked many jobs over the years including being bookkeeper at Markle Furniture and Pursifull Produce, as a secretary at Brotherhood Insurance in Fort Wayne, and as a cashier at Bobs Finer Foods in Huntington and Maloley's Fine Foods in Bluffton from which she retired in 1999. During her lifetime she cared for 15 foster children. Joan enjoyed spending time outdoors and tending to and admiring her flower garden.
Joan was born on July 5, 1933 in Whitley County a daughter of the late Walter and Grace (Stephens) Sieberns.
She was united in marriage to Carl C. Pursifull on March 19, 1952 in Markle IN. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2014.
Survivors include four daughters: Marilyn (Wayne) Butts of Fort Wayne, Maxine "Max" (Don) Hinshaw of Bluffton, Rebecca (Jeff) Souder of Warren, and Sarah Kirkpatrick of Markle; a son: Alan Pursifull of Huntington; a half brother: John D. Sieberns of Corydon IN; a daughter in law: Jennefer Pursifull of Noblesville; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,a son: Gene Pursifull; and a grandson Barrett Pursifull.
To honor Joan's wishes she has chosen to be donated to Medical Science. There will be no services at this time.
