John E. Alexander

John E. Alexander, 82 of Huntington passed away at 10:25 am on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital. John was a 1955 graduate of Burney High School in Burney, Indiana. He attended Purdue University. John spent his career in the agricultural field as a farmer, then as an elevator manager, feed sales and eventually as county manager of Huntington County COOP. He retired from Country Mark COOP before going to work for Central Indiana Supply Company. John was a member of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ in Wabash. He enjoyed oil painting, playing golf and listening to music, especially Jazz. John was born on July 15, 1937 in Decatur County, Indiana, the son of Dennis and Dorothy (Cook) Alexander. He was united in marriage to Janice Eileen McClintic on August 11, 1957 in Burney, Indiana. His wife survives. Additional survivors include two daughters: Anita (Rod) Henry of Huntington; Peggy (Mike) Easley of Roanoke; a son: Jay (Stacey) Alexander of North Manchester; a sister: Joan (Dick) Kling of MN; ten grandchildren: Shellie (Jason) Bettes of Gardner, KS; Annie (Tony) Thompson of Surprise, AZ; Sarah (Todd) Russell of Novi, MI; Adam Alexander of Olathe, KS; Ashley (Nathan) Shivers of Bondurant, IA; Jessica (Brandon) Cornell of Philadelphia, PA; Colin (Jillian) Henry of Chicago; Nich (Kelsey) Henry of Provo, UT; Josh Easley of Fort Wayne; Alex Easley of Roanoke; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Gordon Alexander. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 29, 2019 from 2:00pm – 8:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 10:00am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Solomon David officiating. Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made out to Operation Centurion in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
