Kathryn “Kathy” Louise Shultz, 58 of Huntington was peacefully called to Heaven, surrounded by her family on January 5, 2022. Kathy worked as a caregiver for many years and at Walmart until health conditions forced her to stop working outside of the home, but that did not mean she stopped working by any means. She was talented in so many aspects of her life – as a loving wife, wonderful mother and caring friend. Her children were not the only ones to call her mom and was known to many as “grandma.” Unbelievably artistic and very creative in interior design, she loved making ordinary things beautiful. Her favorite pastimes included gardening, fishing, going to the lake cottage and spending time with her family and friends whom will miss her deeply. She had a rare heart of gold, call on her day or night and she would try with all her might to help you try and fix whatever needed fixing.
Kathy was born on July 17, 1963 in Huntington, the daughter of the late Merrrill and Irene (Lundegard) Helvie.
She was united in marriage to David Shultz on August 10, 1980.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband: David W. Shultz; three sons: Everett W. (Sara) Shultz, David H.(Nadia) Shultz and Jonathan O. (Heather) Shultz; five brothers: Nate, Jim, Dan, Kris and Eric Helvie and a sister: Gwen Sink, and a whole host of grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother Jon Helvie.
Due to the current health conditions (Covid) and the bitter cold, a celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2022. The exact day will be decided at a later date.
The family asks for your support and contributions during this difficult time. Any donations will go towards Kathy’s celebration of life and a grave marker; checks can be made out to David Shultz in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
