Laura Jane Smith

She was born on November 20, 1920 in Mackinaw, Illinois, the daughter of Leslie and Della (Ammerman) Simpson.

She was united in marriage to Otis B. “Smitty” Smith Jr. on October 22, 1944 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1985.

Survivors include a daughter: Leslie Jane (Dennis) Kern of Huntington; a brother: Jack (Helen) Simpson of Champaign, ILL; a granddaughter: Lori (Thomas) Mills of Huntington; three great grandchildren: Katherine Mills of Huntington, Jacob Mills of Huntington, and Ellie Kern of Indianapolis; two great-great grandchildren: Harrison Mills and Willa Mills, four nephews: Herb Simpson, Steven Simpson, Scott Simpson, Paul Simpson and three nieces: Su-Lynda Pree, Cindee Beth Simpson and Valerie Boyes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers: Howard Simpson, Olin C. Simpson and a grandson: Timothy Kern.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 1:00 – 2:00pm at the College Park Church, 1945 College Ave., Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 2:00pm at the College Park Church with Pastor Bob Ash officiating.

Interment will take place at the Mackinaw Cemetery in Mackinaw, Illinois.
