Lula M. Walter

Lula M. Walter, 93 of Huntington passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital. She was a graduate of Clear Creek High School and attended Manchester College for two years before her marriage. She was a farm wife, helping her husband Robert on the farm all her life. She attended Zion United Methodist Church where she played the piano and organ. Lula played for many weddings and funerals. She was active in Huntington County Homemakers Extension Club and the Ladies Aid at church. She participated as a Big Sister in the Big Brother/Big Sister program. Lula loved to quilt and has made many quilts. She liked to sew, bake, and garden. Lula was born on February 14, 1927 in Huntington County, the daughter of the late Roy and Ida (Richards) Howenstine. She was united in marriage to Robert G. Walter on September 27, 1947 in Goblesville. Robert preceded her in death on November 10, 2020. Survivors include two sons: Larry Walter of Castle Rock, CO, Terry (Lucinda) Walter of Roanoke; a daughter: Dawn (Frank) Smith of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren: Scott (Erin) Walter of New Haven, Mark Smith of Newton, IA, Danielle Smith of Fort Wayne; two great grandchildren: Savannah Walter and Leo Walter. She was preceded in death by a brother: Howard Howenstine, he died shortly after his birth. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Zion Cemetery in Huntington County. Memorial donations can be made out to Huntington County 4-H or Zion Cemetery Association both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
