Mary V. "Olie" Cross Newsome

Mary V. “Olie” Newsome, 86 of Huntington passed away at 1:15 pm on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. She enjoyed playing bingo, bird watching, and long drives in the country, garage sales, painting and working in her yard.

Mary was born on September 22, 1927 in Delphos, Ohio, a daughter of John and Ivey (Elston) Cross.

She was united in marriage to Paul Newsome on December 31, 1947. He preceded her in death in May of 2000.

Survivors include a daughter: Angela (Harry) Foster of Huntington; two sons: Johnny (Terri) Newsome of Huntington; Tommy (Nikki) Newsome of Huntington; a brother: Bud Cross of Huntington; four sisters: Molly Strange of Huntington; Donna Tackett of Huntington; Wanda Haire of Andrews; Margie Harshman of Huntington; 86 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three daughters: Janice Vaness, Sue Newsome, Dimma Newsome, a son: Paul Lane Newsome, three sisters: Clarabelle Caley, Marilyn Young, Evelyn Baker and a brother: Kenny Cross.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 from 10:00am – 12:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Memorial service will take place on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 12:00 pm following visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
