

Philip Daniel Watson, 68 of Huntington passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Dupont Hospital. He was a 1961 graduate of Lancaster High School. He worked as a truck driver for General Electric for 35 years retiring in 1998. He retired from the Indiana Air National Guard in Fort Wayne in 2002 with a total of 23 years of service – for 19 of those years Phil was a Tech Sergeant/maintenance systems analyst. He was a member of the 40 & 8; he was a 43 year member of the American Legion Post 7; was a life member of AMVETS Post 33; life member of Air Force Sergeant’s Association; and was a member of the Indiana Sheriff’s Association; FOP Lodge 77 and was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He loved fishing and had many fond memories of Canadian fishing trips. He enjoyed his annual trips to Hawaii.
He was born on July 22, 1943 in Huntington, a son of Earl and Lelah (Dolby) Watson.
Survivors include a daughter: Gina (Tom) Morton of Huntington; a brother: Robert Watson of Warren, five grandchildren: Lukas Morton, Jakob Morton, Nichole Gibbons, Megan Gibbons, Chris Gibbons and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son: Scott M. Watson in 1990. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Reverend Galen Lowery officiating.
Interment will be at the Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.
Memorials are to The 40 & 8 Nursing Scholarship or to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
