

Robert F. “Bob” Gamble, 76, of Huntington, died at 5:45 PM on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the Heritage of Huntington. Mr. Gamble worked as a heavy equipment operator for 46 years from the Operating Engineer’s Local #103, retiring in 1998. Bob served as a specialist in the 6th Armored Division of the United States Army from 1954 – 1957. He was a long-time member of American Legion Post #160 in Roanoke, where he served for many years on the Board of Directors and was an active member of the Honor Guard. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding and playing cards.
Mr. Gamble was born May 1, 1935 in Huntington County, Indiana, a son of Leslie H. and Opal “Peg” (Hoag) Gamble. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Campbell on January 5, 1962 in Huntington.
Bob is survived by his wife Bonnie; his mother, Peg Gamble of Huntington; two (2) sons, Brian (Rita) Campbell and Barry (Christine) Gamble, both of Huntington; one (1) daughter, Mrs. Brooke (Jim) Aschliman of Huntington; seven (7) grandchildren; seven (7) great-grandchildren; two (2) brothers Bill (Ellen) Gamble and Mike (Lora) Gamble, both of Huntington; one (1) sister, Betty Beeks of Huntington.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Gamble and one (1) brother, Dave Gamble.
Visitation for Bob will be on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Father John Pfister officiating.
Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
The family requests that memorial donations in honor of Bob be made to American Legion Post #160, c/o Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
