Robert G. Walter

Robert G. Walter, 94 of Huntington passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital. He was a 1944 graduate of Roanoke High School. Robert worked as a farmer his entire life. He was a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He was a member of Ageless Iron Antique Tractor Club and he attended Zion United Methodist Church. He was born on August 5, 1926 in Huntington, the son of the late William F. and Ellen F. (Stetzel) Walter. Robert was united in marriage to Lula Howenstine on September 27, 1947 in Goblesville. Survivors include his wife: Lula Walter of Huntington; two sons: Larry Walter of Castle Rock, CO, Terry (Lucinda) Walter of Roanoke; a daughter: Dawn (Frank) Smith of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren: Scott (Erin) Walter of New Haven, Mark Smith of Newton, IA, Danielle Smith of Fort Wayne and two great grandchildren: Savannah Walter of New Haven, Leo Walter. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Delbert Walter and Jerry Walter. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel. Interment will be at the Zion Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made out to Huntington County 4-H or Zion Cemetery Association all in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
