Sarah Ellen Barron Edwards

Sarah E. Edwards, 82 of Huntington went to her eternal reward in Heaven surrounded by her family on Monday, August 5, 2013 at her residence. Sarah was a 1947 graduate of Picadome High School in Lexington, Kentucky. Sarah was a homemaker. She was a foster parent for 15 years, having 21 foster children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Huntington. She was a devoted Christian woman and pastor’s wife for over 50 years. She loved spending time with her family and caring for children.

She was born on September 23, 1930 in Lexington, Kentucky, a daughter of Willis R. and Earlena (Harp) Barron.

She was united in marriage to Rev. Donald K. Edwards on November 6, 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2004.

Survivors include two sons: David Allen Edwards of Terre Haute; Timothy Joe Edwards of Terre Haute; four daughters: Donna Lee (Dennis) Matherly of Springfield, IL; Rebecca Ellen (Steve) Zenor of Terre Haute; Julie Ann (Keith) Price of Terre Haute; Beth Ann (Randy) Dubois of Huntington; three brothers: Buck Barron of Lexington, KY; Ernie Barron of Lexington, KY; Bernie Barron of Lexington, KY; a sister: Frances Kirby of Lexington, KY; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers: Lloyd, George, Willis, Jr., James, Tommy, Russell and Harry Barron; a grandson: James Curtis Price.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Randy Dubois officiating.

Interment will be at the Lancaster Cemetery in Lancaster, Indiana.
