Steven R. “Lake-O” Lake, 66 of Churubusco passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at his residence. Steve was self-employed and very proud of his business, Great Lakes Telecom Services. He was an avid fisherman and an amazing cook. He was very dedicated to his family and friends. He loved fast cars and sailboat racing in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Steve loved taking care of his property and enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. He enjoyed live music and attending concerts. His favorite place to be was in the captain seat on the pontoon at Blue Lake. Steve was born on November 2, 1954 in Belding, Michigan, the son of Clarence and Ada Jeanette “Peggy” (Brown) Lake. He was united in marriage to Sandy Keplinger in 2014 in Churubusco. Sandy and his beloved Kitty Kat survive. Additional survivors include a daughter: Stephanie (Beau) Matus of South Amherst, OH; two stepsons: Bryn Keplinger of Huntington, Isaac (Casey) Keplinger of McCordsville; two brothers: Dan (Eva) Lake of Belding, MI, Tom (Barb) Lake of Hastings, MI; and a granddaughter: Quinn Keplinger of McCordsville. He was preceded in death by two twin sisters: Carolyn Donovan and Marilyn Robinson-Chickering. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Michigan. Memorial donations can be made out to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
