

Wilbur B. Wilson, 89 of North Manchester passed away at 8:15 am on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester. Wilbur was a 1943 graduate of Flint High School. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps until 1946. He received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in accounting. He worked at Majestic Corporation for over 40 years with his final position being Vice President of finance. A member of the Huntington Jaycee’s and Rotary Clubs, he was a lifelong member of the Free Masons. He was an avid golfer and supporter of IU sports and Chicago Cubs. He supported many charities including Indiana University and Peabody Retirement Community as well as serving on the Peabody Retirement Community Board of Directors.
Wilbur was born on November 13, 1925 in Steuben County, Indiana, the son of Harvey and Bertha (Boyer) Wilson.
He was united in marriage to Lois Tritch on June 17, 1950. She preceded him in death on May 17, 1997.
Survivors include a daughter: Nancy (Richard) Sowers of Anderson; six grandchildren: Benjamin Sowers of Portland, OR; Matthew (Allison) Sowers of Chicago; Mary Sowers of Cleveland, OH; Andrew Ray of Hannible, MO; Austin Ray of Chicago; Amanda Ray of Chicago; a great grandson: Graham Sowers of Chicago and a son-in-law: Keith Ray of St. Paul, MN.
He was also preceded in death by his second wife: Doris Wilson in 2012; a daughter: Connie Ray in 2009 and a brother: Wymond Wilson in 2013.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 1:00 pm following visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Ray Seilhamer officiating.
Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made out to Indiana University or to Peabody Retirement Community both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
