IRENE T. CAMPBELL of Ceredo, W.Va., went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility in Ashland, Ky. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Ceredo, of which she was a member, with Rev. Rodney Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, W.Va. Irene was born August 11, 1917, in Amherst County, Va., a daughter of the late James Dudley and Connie Johnson Thomas. Irene loved to cook for her family and friends and enjoyed preparing a big Sunday meal for those she loved. She was devoted to her family, her church and her community. She liked to visit with people and was known for giving the best hugs around. Irene also enjoyed growing flowers and sewing. She will be missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward T. Campbell; two sons, Dannie M. and Dale E. Campbell; three sisters, four brothers; and a son-in-law, Larry Tower. She is survived by her daughter, Loretta Tower; two sons and their wives, David W. and Sue Campbell and Dallas L. and Joyce Campbell; two daughters-in-law, Danese Campbell and Billie Campbell; one sister, Louise Tolley, and one brother, Peyton Thomas; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren; and special friends, Rex and Fern Christian. The family would like to say thank you to the staff of Woodland Oaks for their care of Irene. Flowers will be accepted and appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ceredo, P.O. Box 967, Ceredo, WV 25507. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Mrs. Campbell will be taken to the church one hour before the funeral on Saturday.
