

He is survived by one son Malory Glenn Hillhouse and wife Susan, two daughters, Mimslynn McCartney and husband Doug and Myla Weber and husband Jim, nine grandchildren: John Thomas Hillhouse, Michael Stephenson Hillhouse, James Powell Hillhouse, Cameron Douglas McCartney, Ryan Cullen McCartney, Paige Breanne McCartney, Courtney Nichole Weber, Cayla Marie Weber and Cara Renee Weber; two great-grandchildren: Taylor Hillhouse and Payton Hillhouse.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Mildred Hillhouse and his parents Glenn and Cordelia Hillhouse and sister Glenda.
Mial's long list of accomplishments included being a Shriner, Veteran, clown, author, professor, Scoutmaster and member of the Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Ohio just to name a few. He spend many hours volunteering as a clown at the Shriners Burn unit in Galveston. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1950-1954 as a medical corpsman, and received a BS in Chemical Engineering at the University of Missouri in 1957. From 1957-1977, he headed engineering research at Good Year Tire and Rubber Co. From 1977-1982, he was the director of R&D at Raybestos-Manhattan Co. From 1982-1984, he founded and was president of Texas Friction Materials Co. In 1984, he sold the company and retired. He was active for 35 years in BSA including scout master and received the Silver Beaver Award. He also belonged to the Model T Ford Club International and Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity-Professional in Chemistry. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, outdoor activities, and numerous church functions. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 from 4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. at Huntsville Funeral Home. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time as they have chosen to honor his wishes for a private family ceremony to celebrate his life.
